I'm not Grumpy...I'm pissed.

I haven’t written in a while because I’ve not found the words…the words to describe my disappointment, my frustration, my grave concern about our country, our society. I truly have gone from Trust, but verify to Trust no one.

How could I not when we have spent the last year with the politicization of individual thought, freedoms and liberties as well as the last few years of falling to the least common denominator becoming the maximum one should obtain? We have had a year where the inmates appear to be running the asylum coming after years of wasting resources around petty power plays and the call of a phobia or ‘ism’ towards anyone who doesn’t think like you in attempts to marginalize or vilify.

The extremes of thought and actions have become accepted. Common sense and the ability to hold opposing views in your brain as you think for yourself are not only rare, they are attacked. People are saying that a female VP who is believed to have slept with prominent people to gain power is a good role model for girls and other women. In what universe does that make sense? Not something I would want any child of mine to believe is the right way to make your path. Los Angeles County elected a District Attorney who on his first day in office vows to break more laws than many convicted criminals. Politicians and political parties are talking out of both sides of their mouth about both the election and the Corona virus. How can anyone think that sending money to other countries when you have people who cannot pay their bills here makes sense? And don’t tell me it’s because we have to think globally when in the same breath they are saying everyone should give up personal liberties because of a virus that is less deadly than many other transmittable diseases.

Information is suspect because the personal, corporate and political agendas have been shown to be so prevalent that Joe Friday, Just the facts ma’am seems no longer possible. Journalists wear their political party not just on a sleeve but their foreheads and tell us what they want us to know.

Dissenting views, statistics and dare I say facts, mean nothing to a firmly entrenched extremist. And taking the time to examine the unintended consequences of your own actions or attempting to consider another’s view seem to have gone the way of the Dodo.

I do not like being this negative having lost much hope that reason and the good in people will win out. But here I am. So from skeptical Trust but verify I now find myself trusting no one.
