Bigotry-noun. Definition: prejudice and the state of being intolerant.

Today on social media someone disagreed with another person’s response to a post and then stated that they do not listen to any conservatives. It could have been said by a conservative about a liberal and still have been equally asinine. If you do not listen to anyone who thinks differently than you…well it kind of makes you a bigot, not to mention a fool. We only learn when we hear different views. We learn to understand, which does not mean we have to agree. We learn more about how and why we think the way we do. We learn new perspectives, and things we may not have considered. We learn to get along. We learn what it is to respect and be respected in return.

I see no downside to listening to someone who thinks differently than I do. Bigotry is not just tied to race. Hatred based on a political party label or the conservative-liberal continuum is bigotry and not at all helpful in having a civil society.
